How the two compare
Same fitting, same guarantee. The leaf itself is what differs.
UPVC leaf
Multi-chamber profile with galvanised steel reinforcement and fully welded corners. Light, weatherproof, colour-fast foils, and the cheapest door that will still last.
Composite leaf
A solid insulated core between hard-wearing skins, typically 44mm. Heavier, warmer, quieter and noticeably more solid to close.
Security
Multi-point locking on both, with anti-snap, anti-bump cylinders as standard. Composite takes the harder knock, which is why it is the usual choice for a front door.
Upkeep
A wash with soapy water on either. No sanding, no repainting, and no annual treating the way a timber door needs.
Colours & Glazing
White stays the cheapest on UPVC, but anthracite and the woodgrains are what people actually pick for a front door. Glazing runs from a plain panel to obscure and leaded glass, with matching side panels where the opening allows.
